PEMAQUID POINT, MAINE (1827)
Pemaquid Point was the first lighthouse ever to appear on U.S. currency when Maine residents voted to use its image on the quarter in the 50 State issue. Located on bedrock that dates back hundreds of millions of years, the historic tower was also featured as a possible background in Windows 7.
